Jet2 gets the party started after 15 years of flights to Jersey

Jet2.com has marked 15 years flying to Jersey by saying a "heartfelt thank you" to hoteliers, airports and tourist boards.

The airline's first flight to the island landed on May 24 2008, according to a statement by Jet2.com, which flies to Jersey fromEast Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle International and London Stansted.

The company said it has since "enjoyed tremendous growth, both through Jet2.com and tour operator Jet2holidays, with over 300,000 customers having travelled to the destination".

"As we continue to grow and take more customers to Jersey on our award-winning flights and holidays, we will continue to put that partnership approach at the very heart of everything that we do and bring even more happy holidaymakers to the destination,"  said chief executive Steve Heapy.

“We are delighted that our partnership with Jet2.com has seen significant growth in both air routes and passenger numbers in the 15 years since they started flying here," said Matt Thomas, chief executive of Ports of Jersey.
