Jet Airways has put forward proposals for a marketing alliance with South African Airways. The airline is awaiting regulatory approval for the tie-up which would help the two carriers sell each other’s tickets on the Mumbai-Johannesburg route along with connections. The two carriers would code-share on the Mumbai-Johannesburg route.
Jet seeks to provide its customers the option to fly with South African Airways for onward connectivity to cities such as Cape Town and Durban. The proposed agreement would allow South African Airlines passengers to book tickets on Jet Airways' network in India. Jet Airways launched flights on the Mumbai Johannesburg route in April this year with its A330-200 aircraft but it has only seen 60 to 70% of seats filled. South African Airways has also struggled so any tie up on the route would be of great benefit to both airlines.
