Japan Airlines (JAL) is seeking to replace its grounded 787 aircraft on routes between San Diego and Tokyo, which have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
JAL may use the larger 777 while the 787 is under investigation.
“Japan Airlines is committed to the San Diego market, and the 777 is being considered as a substitute for the 787,” said JAL spokeswoman. “The feasibilities of the 777 are now being determined. Based on the distance of this route, capabilities of the aircraft, as well as our fleet schedule and other factors, JAL considers the 777 to be the most suitable replacement for this route at this time.”
