JAL AND BA MULLING NEW VENTURE

Japan Airlines (JAL) is considering forming a venture on European routes with British Airways to boost operations on the continent. Air France is also being considered for a similar link up.

“Our alliance with British Airways is the key,” said president Masaru Onishi. “If we can cover all of Europe with them, which would include Iberia as well, then we won’t need other joint ventures. If not, we’ll look to other airlines.”

Virgin Australia the only business class service to the Gold Coast
Virgin Australia is now the only airlines to offer a Business Class service to the Gold Coast, and a lounge, following the departure of Qantas on the route. Qantas’ budget subsidiary Jetstar now flies the route.

Virgin Australia CEO and MD John Borghetti said: “The Gold Coast is an important city in the Virgin Australia network. We carry almost one million corporate and leisure guests each year," Borghetti said Monday.

“With the introduction of Business Class services by the last quarter of 2011 and the opening of our new lounge in early 2012, Virgin Australia is proudly responding to the tourism and the business sectors of the Gold Coast and South‐east Queensland region,” he said.
