JAL and ANA report soaring profits

Japan Airlines (JAL) and rival All Nippon Airways (ANA) have both reported record profits.

ANA Holdings has reported a 40% increase in nine-month net profit to 73.3 billion yen ($606 billion).

JAL has reported a net profit for the same period up by 20% to 143.69 billion yen.

Both airlines have benefitted from an increase in the number of international visitors to Japan. A weak yen has been credited for the boost in tourism to Japan.
