Lessor Jackson Square Aviation (JSA) said it added 13 new aircraft and sold six during 2022, giving it a fleet value of $11bn at the end of a year when its capital expenditure came to almost S1bn.
JSA said it transitioned seven aircraft "to new and existing lessees" in 2022 and signed leases for a first Max8 orderbook placement. By year-end it had 250 aircraft on its books after signing 61 lease deals during the previous 12 months. It counted 59 customers in 29 countries and reported 78% of its fleet as single-aisle, with the aircraft averaging less than five years old.
"Despite continuing geopolitical and macroeconomic instability, 2022 brought a much-needed traffic and revenue recovery for the majority of the world’s airlines. The re-opening of global borders continued throughout the year and supports a positive outlook for air travel demand in 2023," JSA, which has offices in San Francisco and Dublin and is owned by Mitsubishi HC Capital, a Japanese global leasing company.
“The volatility of 2022 brought several challenges to the business as well as some great successes,” daid Chris Dailey, JSA’s president and chief commercial officer, who thanked staff as the lessor said it had added six recruits during 2022.
"As demand for new fuel-efficient aircraft grows, we’re excited to accelerate our momentum coming into 2023," said Kevin McDonald, chief executive of JSA.
In the 12 years since it was founded, JSA said it "has transacted with 83 airlines, acquired over 300 aircraft and sold nearly 100 aircraft".
