Investec Aviation Finance (part of Investec Bank) has provided $30 million of financing to Titan Aircraft Investments (TAI), enabling the latter’s acquisition of a 2002 747-400F on lease to Atlas Air.
The deal signifies Investec’s first transaction with TAI, the dry leasing joint venture between Titan Aviation Leasing, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, and Bain Capital (which holds 90% interest in TAI). Joseph Barnwell, debt origination at Investec Aviation Finance, described the deal as reflecting “a continuation of the demand [the company has] been seeing for aviation financing,” adding: “We were able to showcase our ability to meet very constrained timeframes and to provide financing at high Day 1 LTVs when comfortable with the credit profile of the lessee/obligor”.
In 2023, Investec closed $834 million of aviation debt across 67 aircraft, providing over $250 million of financing across several aircraft portfolios.
