Insurer Marsh appoints  Garrett Hanrahan as global head of aviation

Marsh JLT Specialty has  appointed Garrett  Hanrahan as global head of aviation where he will succeed Simon Harker who is retiring after 44 years in the industry.

Based in Houston Hanrahan will report to Lucy Clarke, president of Marsh JLT Specialty and he will  this role oversee Marsh JLT Specialty’s Global Aviation Practice, which advises a number of global airlines, manufacturers, airports, and other leading industry players on their insurance and risk management programmes.

The Global Aviation Practice brings together more than 300 specialists in over 20 offices worldwide. 

Hanrahan has been with Marsh since 2013 and has extensive experience in the global aviation industry having worked within the sector for over 25 years, most recently as US head of aviation for Marsh JLT Specialty. 

Hanrahan said: “The advent of new technologies, geopolitical concerns, the need for carbon-efficient travel, and the rising demand for greater global connectivity are just some of the major risk issues the global aviation sector now faces.”
