IndiGo reaches milestone of 1,900 flights per day, commences Nairobi operations

IndiGo recently reached a milestone of 1,900 flights a day coinciding with its 17th anniversary celebrations. The figure clearly reflects IndiGo’s hold over India’s domestic market with monopoly flights on most of the existing routes.

Not only is IndiGo aggressively present on all major routes, but many of its existing routes are also monopoly flights. Chandigarh-Jaipur, Delhi-Kanpur, Bareilly-Bengaluru, Pune-Chennai, Hyderabad-Guwahati, and Bengaluru-Madurai are just some of the examples where no other airlines are competes with IndiGo for scheduled services.

In January 2023, the airline had 300 planes and it plans to have around 350 aircraft towards the end of 2023.

IndiGo flies to more than 75 domestic destinations and more than 30 overseas. The carrier hopes to increase its network to 115 in the next few months and estimates to up its passenger volume to 100 million by next year.

IndiGo recently launched its commercial operations to Nairobi, its first African destination as a part of its growth strategy to enhance connectivity in the region.  This new route is aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Kenya, which are each other's significant trading partners with strong economic connections.
