The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has warned budget carrier IndiGo for flouting safety norms on a number of occasions.
"Fast growth induction plan of the fleet in the organisation also needs to be reviewed in view of the serious findings recorded in audit reports," the DGCA report says.
Also in the report the regulator flags up the "large numbers of premature engine removals in a short span (Jan-Oct 2011)", and has calls for a review of IndiGo's operational performance standards for long flights as the carrier now flies to overseas destinations. The DGCA review is to determine that modifications to the engines of aircraft such as A320 so that they can fly longer distances need meet international safety norms.
The report also criticised safety measures at Air India Express.
