IndiGo has finalised a commitment for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June into a firm order. This brings the airline's total A350 orders to 60 aircraft.
The airline, the largest in India, said the expanded order marks a “strategic shift” as it prepares to enter the long-haul international market, leveraging the A350’s range and greater efficiency.
IndiGo said the A350 is the world's “most modern” and “most efficient” widebody in the 300-410 seater category.
“Its new-generation engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and CO2 emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft,” the company said.
In addition, the present A350 can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), though Airbus is aiming for all its aircraft to be 100% SAF-capable by 2030.
At the end of September 2025, Airbus had more than 1,400 A350 orders from 63 customers worldwide.
