India's largest airline IndiGo has placed a firm order for 30 A350-900 aircraft as it seeks to expand its international network to long-haul destinations.
""IndiGo’s first widebody order opens an exciting new chapter in our close partnership,"" said Airbus EVP sales, commercial aircraft Benoit de Saint-Exupery.
""For IndiGo, after successfully pioneering the Indian skies with an unprecedented journey, its fleet of 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft will allow IndiGo to embark on its next phase of becoming one of the leading global aviation players,"" said IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers.
It follows on from its firm order of 30 of the same aircraft type in April. The airline had also placed the largest order with Airbus in June 2023 for 500 aircraft.
