IndiGo is all set to launch new international route to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from New Delhi, marking its 30th international and 208th overall destination. The airline will start commercial operations on this route starting August 11, 2023.
Delighted to launch the new route, Vinay Malhotra, head of global sales, IndiGo said: “This strategic introduction addresses the growing travel demand from India to Azerbaijan, while also promoting cultural exchanges and fostering stronger bilateral ties. With these flights, tourists will get to experience not only its medieval walled old city but also the contemporary landmarks.”
IndiGo hopes to take advantage of the growing bilateral relationship between India and Azerbaijan. A direct flight between the two countries’ capital cities will likely foster economic ties and promote closer diplomatic relations.
The carrier also started a new direct international service between Hyderabad in South India and Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates on June 15. IndiGo first started direct service to Ras Al Khaimah from Mumbai in September 2022.
