IndiGo has commenced daily, non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, in line with its aims to “reconnect” India and mainland China.
The the route will be operated by A320 aircraft, connecting one of India’s most populous cities to one of China’s most important manufacturing and export hubs.
“The resumption of connectivity from India caters to the growing demand for passenger and cargo movement between India and China, unlocking new opportunities for trade, investment and tourism,” IndiGo said.
Building on this expansion, IndiGo will also begin flights between Delhi and Guangzhou from 10 November.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline by passenger numbers, has a fleet of over 400 aircraft and flies to more than 130 destinations.
In 2024 it added 58 aircraft to its fleet, and in FY 2025 it will carry over 118 million passengers.
