Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive, IndiGo has been selected as the Chair-Elect of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors, effective June 2023. He will replace the present Chair, Yvonne Manzi Makolo, the Chief Executive, Rwandair.
Speaking of his appointment, Elbers said: "It is an immense honor to be appointed as the chair-elect of the IATA Board of Governors. I look forward to continue working closely with global industry leaders, regulators, and stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
Elbers has over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry. He began his career at KLM in 1992, where he became Chief Operating Officer in 2011, and subsequently CEO from 2014 until 2022. He took over the reins of IndiGo in September 2022 and since then has been a part of IndiGo’s growth story.
As Chair-Elect of IATA, Elbers will play a crucial role in shaping the aviation industry, driving sustainability and innovation, and advocating for the interests of the industry in a constantly evolving landscape.
