Imminent French ATC strike called off
France’s largest union representing air traffic controllers, the SNCTA (syndicat majoritaire des contrôleurs aériens), has lifted its notice of intended strike action scheduled for April 25 2024; explaining that an agreement has been reached in a ‘last-minute conciliation’ during discussions held overnight. On April 23, when the National Committee met by video conference, the SNCTA had indicated that ‘although some technical compromises were reached, they did not lead to a result, particularly on the issue of social support’. It also confirmed that the intent to strike ‘testifies to the determination of air traffic controllers to obtain fair recognition of the profession’. The SNCTA has previously filed a strike notice on April 11, inviting the ‘entire profession to mobilize for a real Social Protocol by declaring itself a striker now’, with participating individuals to have recorded their intentions by noon on April 23.
