Icelandair and Turkish Airline sign codeshare for enhanced passenger connectivity

Icelandair and Turkish Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement at International Air Transport Association's Annual General Meeting. As a part of the deal, Icelandair passengers can connect onwards to destinations in the Middle East and Asia with a convenient stopover in Istanbul (IST). On the other hand, Turkish Airlines passengers can now connect onwards to Icelandair's westbound destinations across the North American continent.

In addition to destinations, travelers have the convenience of having both legs of the journey booked on the same ticket and have their checked-in bags transferred through to their final destination.

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi commented: "We are very glad to sign this codeshare agreement with Icelandair. With this agreement, we aim to enhance the travel options offered to our passengers through our networks. We are also so pleased to know that this partnership with Icelandair will bring a remarkable benefit to both airlines from a commercial perspective."

Bogi Nils Bogason, the CEO of Icelandair, commented: “We are very happy to announce Turkish Airlines as our latest codeshare partner. Our strategy is to partner with airlines that allow us to open new and exciting opportunities for our passengers while working with partners who focus on like-minded customer service expectations. With the new agreement, the world will be better connected, and allows us to better serve our global passengers. We look forwards to welcoming Turkish Airlines aboard."
