Ibom Air to commence seven African routes in Q2, 2023

Ibom Air is planning to add seven African and two regional routes to its network from April 2023 airline’s Marketing and Communications manager Aniekan Essienette told the Daily Trust. The routes include Ghana, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Liberia, Garbon, and Gambia.

The airline has already mapped out plans for regional routes but the airline is planning to ramp up its capacity to meet demands.

“We are focused on one thing, to grow this airline and put Akwa Ibom on the pedestal. We are going to expand regionally. However, when we are stable, nothing stops us from interlining with international airlines. Every airline that is worth its salt out there is asking to interline with Ibom Airline, meaning that they would bring traffic to us. So, theoretically, you can buy an Ibom Air ticket with Delta Airline and it would take you all the way to the US and back. It is just like Ibom Air operated by Delta,” added Essienette

“Right now, we are in the process of tidying up all the international agreements, and once that is done, we would start going to our region,” she added.

Meanwhile as per sources, the airlines plan to expand its domestic routes from Q1 of 2023.

Ibom Air currently has seven planes in its fleet, five CJ900 and two Airbus. The airline is also expecting delivery of 10 in-house A220-200s from Q3 of 2023 to 2026. The airline is expecting at least three aircraft to be delivered between October 2023 to October 2024.

Ibom Air currently serves six domestic destinations, including Abuja, Lagos, Calabar, Enugu, Port Harcourt Omagwa.
