Iberia Maintenance, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), said it has put together "a long-term agreement" with HK Express for 32 V2500 aircraft engines.
A subsidiary of Cathay Pacific, HK Express is to avail of Iberia's "efficiency improvements", including "the extension of engine repair in-house capability, workscope adjustments to ensure shop visit optimisation and used serviceable material sourcing", according to a statement by the signatories.
Andy Best, Iberia Maintenance's chief technical officer, said the company was "very honoured" that HK Express awarded it the contract. Alan Tang, the carrier's maintenance and engineering general manager, said he hoped the partnership would be "part of the enabler to our vision", which he described as "always look[ing] for the most optimal maintenance solution based on the key guiding principles of agility, efficiency and simplicity".
The agreement followed Iberia Maintenance receiving a licence in October 2022 to service Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.
