Iberia announces robust winter schedule with 300 weekly flights to Latin America

Iberia is all set to ramp up its capacity this winter with over 300 weekly flights in Latin America for five months of its winter schedule starting October 28 to March 31. The airline will operate over 90 weekly flights between Spain and US. Iberia plans to launch 17% more flights in the market this winter to strengthen its long-haul network.

Maria Jesús López Solás, commercial and network and alliances development head, Iberia said: “We are developing an ambitious plan in Latin America and the Caribbean that will boost connectivity with this region and, above all, will allow the Madrid airport to reinforce its role as a bridge between Europe and Latin America. To this record increase in frequencies, we are adding a more sustainable fleet and improvements in our on-board experience, so that Iberia is the best option to fly between both sides of the Atlantic.”

The growth represents a 14% increase in flights compared to 2019.

In Europe the airline plans to boost its capacity in Paris, Rome, and Milan along with Athens, Budapest, Dusseldorf, Stockholm, Hamburg, Oslo, Prague, and Zurich. As a part of the winter schedule the airline will add two million seats between Europe and Latin America.

Mexico City will be Iberia’s Latin American destination with highest capacity, almost 21 weekly flights. The airline will fly 13 weekly flights to Peru and 14 weekly flights to Argentina. The airline will fly 10 weekly flights to Chile.

““Brazil will have the same connectivity level and will maintain its daily flight to Sao Paulo and one more frequency with Rio de Janeiro during the months of January and February until it reaches four weekly flights with that city. Thus, at the beginning of 2024, Brazil will have 11 weekly frequencies with Europe,” the airline said in a statement.

Besides the airline will increase its capacity to Ecuador with 10 weekly flights, Venezuela will go from three to five weekly frequencies between Madrid and Caracas. The airline will operate nine weekly flights to Dominican Republic in January expanding it to ten in February.

The airline will deploy five weekly flights to Puerto Rico in November increasing it to daily service at the start of 2024.  In Central America, Iberia plans to operate one daily flight to Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, and Uruguay.

The airline will increase its Boston capacity by two weekly flights, reaching five each week, two daily flights to Miami.
