Ryanair has welcomed confirmation from IATA that it remains the world’s favourite airline after IATA’s latest World Airline Transport Statistics, which showed Ryanair carried more international customers than any other airline.
Ryanair carried over 101.4 million international passengers last year, almost 40 million more than second-placed EasyJet (62.6m) and 55 million more than Lufthansa in fourth place (46.9 million).
“IATA has once again confirmed that Ryanair remains the world’s favourite airline as we became the first airline in the world to carry more than 100m international customers in one year, thanks to our “Always Getting Better” programme and by offering the lowest fares in Europe,” said Ryanair’s Robin Kiely. “Customers can look forward to more new routes, new digital features, new cabin interiors and even more low fares, as we carry more than 117m customers this year.”
EasyJet carried 62.6 million passengers, Emirates carried 51.03 million and Lufthansa’s figures reached 46.9 million last year (see table).
