First it was Ryanair – lambasted and trashed when it attempted to takeover Aer Lingus – now IAG is coping the same sort of terrible news spreads from the Irish media. IAG is being almost vilified for trying to take control of Aer Lingus and the whole thing is pulling-in press columns about how IAG could do this close to the 100th anniversary of the Irish rebellion, it being a UK company and all. We have to wonder if there is some sort of psychological problem here in Europe where we do not want other European airlines taking control of our skies but we are at the very same time perfectly willing to see Middle East carriers control our airlines instead. We saw the same thing with Alitalia and Air France and we may yet see the same thing come to pass with Aer Lingus in future years if this IAG deal were to fall through.
