Horizon Aircraft: first commercial eVTOL routes expected by 2026
A study commissioned by Horizon Aircraft (developers of the Cavorite X7 eVTOL) and conducted by market research company PureProfile has predicted that the first commercial eVTOL passenger routes will be operational by 2026. 200 senior private equity, venture capital and family office professionals located across the world were surveyed as part of the research, with 40% of investors believing the first commercial UAM (urban air mobility) routes will be operational by 2026. 11% of respondents thought this could be achieved as soon as 2025, with only 4% anticipating the debut of commercial passenger routes to extend beyond 2030. 96% of professional investors believed that the growing demand for efficient transportation systems combined with improvements in safety and reliability will drive improvements in the eVTOL regulatory framework sector over the next five years, ultimately fuelling ‘substantial new investment into the sector’. Only 1% of those surveyed did not agree that overcoming potential obstacles would ‘inevitably see increased investment’. Overall, the information and communications network was identified as the most important area to focus regulatory attention on, followed by air traffic control and security considerations. “The sector has already attracted significant investment, and we anticipate that this will only increase as ongoing developments in technology and regulation will provide new investment opportunities in an emerging market,” commented Brandon Robinson, CEO of Horizon Aircraft.
