Hong Kong Airlines (HKA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) to train and develop pilot to meet the huge pilot demand in near-future. The collaboration will bring together the airline's flight training capabilities and the academy's experience in personal development and the advanced simulation training facilities.
The airline claims that this combination will contribute to building a much-needed talent pipeline for the future of the aviation industry with a broader aim to position Hong Kong as a regional hub for civil aviation training in the region and beyond.
Hong Kong Airlines has an 11-story training facility equipped with CAE 7000XR full-flight simulators, certified by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department and the Civil Aviation Administration of China and other cockpit simulation devices.
Hou Wei, Chairman, HKA, said: “HKA's utilization of advanced technology and bespoke training curricula also ensures efficient civil aviation pilot training. We are committed to cultivating individuals with a deep passion for the aviation industry and eagerly anticipate a close partnership with HKIAA to collaboratively share resources and nurture a new generation of aviation elites."
There is already an acute shortage of pilots globally and with thousands of new aircraft headed China's way, pilot shortage problem will only get bigger. This is sending clear signals to the industry and academic institutions to urgently develop a well-planned flight training roadmap to attract aspiring talents and meet soaring industry demand.
