Himalayan Airlines resumes Kathmandu-Beijing route after three years

Himalaya Airlines resumed its Kathmandu (KTM) - Beijing (PKX) service after a three-year COVID induced hiatus. The Nepal-based airline will serve this route on its sole A319-100 once a week on Saturday.

The carrier's A319 has an all-economy class layout in a typical three-three configuration and can carry a total of 144 passengers. If the demand on the route increases the airline is planning to switch the A319 with one of its three larger A320-200 aircraft. With this change the airline plans to boost the capacity by 25% with an additional 40 seats.

The airline hopes that the route will significantly improve Nepal's tourism and trade sector of Nepal. Besides, Himalaya Airlines is a joint venture airline between China and Nepal and the resumption of the route indicates the significance of the partnership between the two countries.

Himalayan Airlines is the only airline serving this route and has an upper hand to connect two cities without any competition.

The airline today serves 10 destinations from its hub at Katmandu with a significant presence in China and Middle East.
