Helvetic Airways to allow more flexible work schedules for cabin crew

Swiss-based regional carrier Helvetic Airways said it is introducing a "totally individualised part-time working model" for cabin crew.

The "fly your way" set-up will allow workers to "largely decide for themselves how to structure their duty assignments" and will give the option of rooms to rent near Zurich Airport.

The carrier said it has been offering similar options to staff for several years, including the "conventional part-time working model with fixed duty days each week".

The new system, Helvetic said, is "an innovative and fully flexible part-time employment model under which cabin attendants can directly channel their individual wishes and needs into their working arrangement",  such as by opting to work 50% with one week of work followed by one week off, or adopt the same 50/50 routine in a monthly system.

“For our younger and older colleagues alike, being able to design your own working hours is very important today,” said chief executive Tobias Pogorevc.
