Heathrow has reported its fourth consecutive record-breaking month with approximately 8 million passengers during August. The airport is on track to record 30 million passengers between June and September 2024 - a would-be record achievement for the airport.
The airport's busiest day ever was on August 18, with around 269,000 passengers passing through. Passenger numbers were also bolstered by the Taylor Swift concerts held through summer with Heathrow estimating an uplift of approximately 40,000 passengers.
"For the past four months, we have broken several new records, demonstrating our ability to open a world of opportunity for more people, cargo, business and the UK economy," said Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye.
From August last year through to August 2024, the airport has served some 82.6 million passengers. In addition, it carried over 133,000 tonnes of cargo during the month, with it surpassing 1 million tonnes in 2024 on August 25.
