Heathrow expects record December

Heathrow is expecting its busiest December ever this year, the airport said in a release on December 11, 2024.

The airport said it anticipates passenger numbers on Christmas Day to grow 21% in comparison to last year.

Heathrow served over 6.5 million passengers in November - a record for the airport and up 6.1% compared to November 2023.

“This year has been all about providing high levels of service for record amounts of passengers at Heathrow, and November was no different," said Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye. “As we embrace the festive season, our focus remains on ensuring smooth, joyful journeys.”

In November, the airport transported 143.7 metric tonnes of cargo, up 5.4% compared to November last year. In addition, the airport has now surpassed 2023's cargo volumes by 11.6%, transporting 1.6 million metric tonnes. The airport said this driven by greater belly hold cargo capacity on passenger aircraft and a stronger overall demand.
