Haze in Singapore that reached unhealthy levels yesterday was no problem for Changi Airport, says the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). Thanks to its Instrument Landing System (ILS) aircraft were able to land in low visibility conditions.

Meanwhile, figures out yesterday show the airport handled 3.39 million passengers in September, up 10.8% against a year earlier. Total traffic for the first nine months of the year is 30.8 million passengers, a growth of 15.3% over the same period last year.

Cargo traffic was also up, increasing 7.3% to 151,055 tonnes. For the first nine months of 2010, a total of 1.34 million tonnes of airfreight were handled, up 14% growth over last year.
