Hawaiian to make more network adjustments for Pratt & Whitney engine issue recall schedule

Hawaiian Airlines is about to further readjust its schedule as a part of Pratt & Whitney’s engine recall program to inspect its A320neo engines. After Pratt & Whitney’s call to check the microscopic cracks in engines Hawaiian has already grounded its 18 A320neos, hindering its capacity during the peak summer season with no estimated timeline of return to service.

And due to the lack of the aircraft, the airline was forced to suspend its daily Kahului-Las Vegas flight service from August 5 to August 31.

These consequences are bound to last for the rest of this year and onto the next as Hawaiian Airlines makes more significant route adjustments.

"Hawaiian Airlines is making more network adjustments as a result of Pratt & Whitney’s recent announcement that some Airbus A321neo engines will require additional inspections in coming months. We sincerely apologize to our impacted guests for the inconvenience and are working with them on alternative travel options," the airline said in a statement.

According to the airline, the latest adjustments will see Sunday flight services between Kahului and San Jose being suspended from September 9 to January 8 2024. Saturday flight services between Honolulu and San Jose and Monday flight services between these two cities will also be suspended during the same period.

Flight services between Lihue and Oakland will also be temporarily paused from September 6 to December 14, affecting the Christmas and New Year's flights adding up to more losses
