Hawaiian Airlines has resumed its thrice weekly services between Hawai'i and Fukuoka soon after Japan announced relaxation in foreign tourist entry requirements. The airline operated its first flight post-pandemic on April 29 from Honolulu and Fukuoka. The service was initially launched in November 2019 but was soon suspended as the pandemic hit.
Hawaiian Airlines will operate the route with its Airbus A330 fleet, offering 278 seats across three classes.
"We're delighted to be returning to Fukuoka as we lead the way in reconnecting travel between Hawaiʻi and Japan," commented Theo Panagiotoulias, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Alliances, Hawaiian Airlines. “We look forward to welcoming travelers from Fukuoka to the Hawaiian Islands and making it easy for US residents to enjoy Kyushu's famous food scene and rich culture.”
The relaunched service is currently the only direct flight connecting Fukuoka with the United States.
Alongside Fukuoka, Hawaiian Airlines currently offers three other Japanese airports: Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and Osaka Kansai all on a daily basis.
