Hanwha Aviation acquires first engine MRO facility

Hanwha Aviation has acquired its first engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility, the company's CEO Jeff Lewis said on LinkedIn on May 28, 2025.

The US-based MRO is fully certified by the FAA, EASA, and UK CAA. The facility specialises in both hospital and on-wing services across a broad range of engine types, including the CFM56.

“This acquisition represents a foundational step in our vertically integrated approach to engine leasing and asset management,” said Lewis. “By incorporating in-house MRO capabilities, we enhance our ability to offer comprehensive, cost-effective solutions throughout the engine lifecycle. This move complements Hanwha's existing strengths in aerospace manufacturing and reinforces our commitment to delivering end-to-end value to our customers."

He added that the company will disclose the engine MRO's “new name and brand identity” in the coming weeks.
