Hainan Airlines is planning to resume flights to three international destinations, Rome, Auckland, and Brussels from its Shenzhen hub. The resumption of these routes is a part of the airline’s plan to make the city airport a global aviation hub.

Hainan resumed the Shenzhen-Rome route on May 28, 2023 deploying its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, marking the airline’s fourth international route from Shenzhen airport. The roundtrip service will be twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

The other two routes, Shenzhen to Auckland and Shenzhen to Brussels, are set to begin next month., Hainan will resume service to Auckland with two roundtrip flights per week scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays on the Airbus A330 aircraft starting July, while the service to Brussels will officially restart on June 21, with roundtrip flights operating on Wednesdays and Sundays deployed on a B787 Dreamliner.

With these routes, the number of international routes departing from Shenzhen is up from three to six. The airline has restarted close to 30 international and regional roundtrip flights from Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Haikou, Chongqing, Xi'an, Changsha, and Guangzhou.

Hainan will continue to resume more flights and open new international and regional routes to meet the passenger demand and expectations
