Hainan Airlines is to resume direct flights from Brussels to Shanghai (Pudong), its third route to China to Belgium, starting on June 18 2024. Services will operate four times a week.
China’s introduction of visa-free policies for various countries is expected to increase popularity of these routes, with China’s ministry of affairs foreign spokesperson Mao Ning announcing China’s decision to unilaterally implement visa-free entry for ordinary passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands in Span and Malaysia in November 2023. Starting from March 14 2024, China has also implemented a similar trial policy for passport holders from Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg.
‘The expansion of visa-free entry policies to more countries reflects China’s vision of promoting healthy and vibrant development in inbound and outbound tourism markets,’ states the airline.
