LOT Polish Airlines was forced to cancel 11 out of 200 scheduled flights on Sunday after computers that manage Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin Airport ground-handling software were hacked. LOT’s computers were temporarily paralysed by the attack and even though it was quickly rectified some 1,400 passengers were affected.
Airlines are increasingly falling victim to hacking attempts – in April Ryanair experienced a major hacking where $5 million was stolen from its bank account.
