Greater Bay Airlines adds Taiwan, Japan as new destinations

Greater Bay Airlines has launched a new route to Taipei starting December 1, 2022. The airline’s decision to expand its network follows successful regulatory approvals from the authorities of Hong Kong and Taiwan coupled with Taiwan’s relaxation of entry measures for visitors.

The airline will operate five weekly flights considering Taipei’s popularity as a holiday attraction for the Hong Kong crowd and the announcement by the Taiwanese authorities that organized tour groups to Taiwan are permitted from henceforth is expected to boost the demand of leisure travelers for visiting Taiwan as well.

Along with Taiwan, the airline will also add Tokyo as a new destination from January 12, 2023. This new service will operate daily between Hong Kong and Tokyo (Narita International Airport).

Japan is  one of the most preferred holiday destinations for Hong Kong people. Besides the travel to Japan has been on the rise since the country’s earlier announcement of its total removal of COVID-19 related entry measures for visitors to the country on October 2022.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organisation, the estimated number of visitor arrivals from Hong Kong was 36,200 in October 2022, compared to only 2,800 in September 2022.
