GOVERNMENT EQUITY AND 787 DELIVERIES TO SAVE AIR INDIA

Air India is hoping equity provided by the government and the arrival of 27 Boeing 787 in October will help the troubled airline back to growth.
The airline is seeking total equity support of Rs42,920 crore over the next decade at a meeting with ministers today.

The airline has also stated that its order for 787 is pivotal to the airline improving its aircraft utilisation and enhancing revenues in the next decade.

The first 787, which was delayed by almost three years, will be delivered by October; with two more arriving in November and a fourth one by December. Seven more are scheduled for delivery to Air India in 2012.
