GoFirst inducts 55th Airbus A320neo

GoFirst has inducted its 55th Airbus A320neo increasing its fleet size to 60 aircraft. The all-Airbus airline now has 55 A320neos and five A320ceos. The airline has taken the delivery of one A320neo for the last three months following an order of 144 aircraft with Airbus.

The airline has been in the limelight recently for multiple flight cancellations and delays leading to passenger woes. Many passengers have taken to social media platform to express their ire with the airline.

The airline has grounded over 25 planes currently due to supply chain woes and lack of spares.

With several aircraft non-operational, coupled with flight delays and rescheduling of departure times, naturally its on-time performance (OTP) has also taken a hit.

A senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it has rules to deal with delays and cancellations, which will be strictly enforced.

“If any airline is not respecting the rules, we will take steps and ensure redressal,” the official said.

In October 2022, the Go First’s market share declined to 7%, while on-time performance stood at 60.7%. According to DGCA, the airline carried 8.02 lakh passengers last month.
