GE Aerospace has said it will invest $53 million in improvements to its West Jefferson facility in North Carolina and $14 million into its Pune, India manufacturing facility.
The investment in the West Jefferson facility will support the production of narrowbody aircraft engines. The project will expand the West Jefferson facility by over 35,000 square feet and will create 40 new jobs.
“West Jefferson will now have an even bigger role to play in building the future of flight for GE Aerospace,” said the company's site leader for West Jefferson, Dylan Gerding.
The $53 million investment will be deployed over three years. One North Carolina Fund will support the expansion with a $100,000 grant. The facility will also receive $1 million in grants from Ashe County, Ashe County Job Development, and the Town of West Jefferson.
The $14 million Pune facility investment builds upon the $30 million announced last year. The new investment will strengthen the site's capabilities through upgraded manufacturing processes and automation, including enhancements that support advanced engine components.
“This investment reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative and to advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing," said GE Aerospace managing director of the Pune facility Vishwajit Singh.
The Pune facility began as a multi-business manufacturing site and later evolved into a high-tech aerospace parts supplier for GE Aerospace’s global commercial engine factories.
