GASAT – Saudi Arabia records 82% rise in passenger traffic compared to 2021

Air Travel in Saudi Arabia showed a strong recovery in 2022 with about 88 million domestic and international passengers passing through airports in Saudi Arabia, according to the data released by General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). This recorded 82% rise in passenger traffic as compared to 2021.

As per GASAT report, number of flights increased by 41% with Saudi Arabian Airlines accounting for highest number of flights. The average number of daily flights arriving at and departing from domestic airports in the Kingdom reached about 6,000, with King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah recording 32 million passengers.

The number of private flights amounted to 64,000 flights, which is an increase of 41% compared to 2021, the report said.

Saudi airports currently offer connectivity to over 56 countries, 10 more as compared to 2021.
