Garuda Indonesia and ICBC Financial Leasing sign sale and leaseback agreement for five 777-300ERs while an operating lease agreement is signed for six A320-200s with Citilink. Garuda Indonesia will receive the five 777-300ERs from May 2014 through September 2015, while the six A320-200s will join the Citilink fleet in June through December 2014.
The 777-300ERs will serve the following routes: Denpasar - Japan, Denpasar - Korea, Denpasar - China, and Denpasar - Sydney. In addition, in 2014 the aircraft will operate on the Jakarta - London service and fly Jakarta - Amsterdam in 2015, a route that KLM has enjoyed good returns on in the past. Citilink meanwhile will operate the A320-200s on domestic services to Surabaya, Medan, Denpasar, and other regions in Indonesia.
The rest of its fleet will also be used to serve regional routes such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Perth in order to attract more tourists to Indonesia.
