Gama Aviation posts revenue rise despite gloomy outlook for 2019

Gama Aviation has reported revenue of $234.8 million in its full year results for 2018, representing an increase of 13% compared to the year before.

The global aviation outfit reported that its ground revenues organically increased by 10%, while its air revenues increased by 17%. The company suggests that the results reflect the contribution of its relationship agreement with Gama Aviation Hutchison Holdings.

The company did post an impairment loss of $27.7 million, which the group says relates to the 2015 merger between Hangar8 and Gama Aviation.

Chief executive Marwan Khalek said: "While 2018 was a disappointing year in terms of financial performance, it was also a year of transition and change that provides Gama with a solid basis for the future."

With the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and other variables, Gama has warned that it expects more challenging market conditions in Europe while growth in the Middle East and Asia was expected to be "modest".
