Fujitsu and Boeing plan to jointly develop a new efficient aircraft maintenance system using Fujitsu’s smart tags that can be attached to aircraft components and other equipment. The tags show when the part was installed and when it should be replaced, which allows airlines to manage their fleet more effectively and for less cost.
The new system is expected to be in place from 2012.
