Frontier Airlines has begun evaluating the use of Apple iPads equipped with electronic-chart functionality, or “electronic flight bags.” The Federal Aviation Administration has approved a six-month evaluation on the use of the iPad by its flight crews.
Frontier said it plans to use the iPad on all flights, eliminating the need for about 30 pounds of paper charts and manuals.
