French unions must have seen a good weather report for this week - As another strike is announced

It is very hot in France this week and true to form a strike has therefore been announced. French air traffic controllers are set to strike for 48 hours Thursday to facilitate a long weekend over the July 4 holiday no doubt, what should be the busiest time of the year with schools breaking-up. Members of the SNCTA union say the budget of the French aviation regulator should be safeguarded; it argues, decisions over recent years by both the French government and the European commission have led to restrictions in both technical resources and the workforce. Of course the union has neglected to note that the regulator itself has no more money to offer. On a serious note: The strike is the second called this year by French controllers and is likely to have a severe effect as the summer holiday season gets underway. The French authorities have asked airlines to cut their frequencies by 40% during the dispute.
