Germany's Frankfurt was the best-connected aviation hub Europe, North America and the Middle East in 2022, going by number-crunching carried out aviation analytics company Cirium
"Frankfurt Airport was named the most connected airport during the year, with flights arriving from over 330 different airports," Cirium announced on January 11.
Istanbul ranked second, with 309 destinations, edging out Paris Charles de Gaulle on 308. The top five was rounded out by Schiphol in Amsterdam and Chicago's O'Hare.
Despite Qatar hosting the 2022 football World Cup and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of supporters of the 31 other competing nations, Doha did not make the top 20. Dubai came in at seventh, one place above Heathrow Airport, which topped the list in the UK and earlier the same day said it recorded the biggest post-pandemic curb increase in passenger numbers of any European airport.
