FINNISH UNION REJECTS MEDIATOR PROPOSAL

The striking Finnish cabin crew union SLSY has rejected the settlement proposal offered by the national labour mediator, Finnair said in a statement. President and chief executive of the Finnish airline, Mika Vehvilainen, said the decision by SLSY to reject the settlement was “appalling”.

"The proposal was a compromise in which both parties would have succeeded in achieving important objectives," he said in a prepared statement.

The argument is over Finnair's plan to expand its long-haul flights but reduce the duration of the cabin crew's recovery time from 24 hours from 36 hours.
