Finnair is cancelling 140 flights on May 2 as a result of industrial action from the Finnish Aviation Union. The strike will impact Finnair's operations with disruptions to aircraft maintenance, ground handling operations, and catering services.
“It is unreasonable that 12,000 of our customers have to change their travel plans during the May Day weekend due to industrial action,” said Finnair chief operating officer Jaakko Schildt. “We hoped until the end that industrial action could have been avoided."
The union also announced similar industrial action for May 5. The airline said it is still assessing the impact of the industrial action. However, it is likely further cancellations will occur if strikes take place.
