Finnair carried just over 1 million passengers in September 2024, up 10.2% over September last year.
Capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, was up 9% over the same period last year. The airline had deployed additional narrowbody capacity after its wet lease outs to British Airways had ended in March 2024. If wet lease outs are included, thus taking into consideration its cooperation with Qantas, capacity was up 11.2%.
However, the company's capacity in Asia was up 13.1% over last year, driven by added frequencies to Japan including Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya during the summer season. North Atlantic capacity was down 11.9% due to cut frequencies to Chicago.
The company's revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) were up 6.7%. Passenger load factor declined 1.6 percentage point to 76.3%.
Finnair's cargo tonnes were up 9.2% in September 2024 due to growth in European and Asian cargo traffic. Revenue cargo tonne kilometres increased by 7.7%.
