Finnair has introduced a thrice-weekly service to Beijing, China, starting 3 November.
Flights to the new Beijing Daxing International Airport, which opens for operation from 30 September, with operate on Airbus A330 aircraft.
The new frequencies are in addition to Finnair’s daily flights to Beijing Capital Airport.
Finnair operates to seven destinations in Greater China. Earlier this year, Finnair announced codeshare collaborations with Juneyao Air and with China Southern, which brought 13 new Chinese destinations to Finnair’s customers.
The airline will make several changes to its board. Finnair’s chief financial officer Pekka Vähähyyppä will leave the company as of 1 July 2019, with Mika Stirkkinen being promoted to the role. Stirkkinen’s previous roles in his career at Finnair include interim chief commercial officer.
Johanna Karppi has been appointed as senior vice president, people & culture at Finnair as of 1 October 2019. Karppi, who currently works as SVP, human resources at Terveystalo, will take over from Eija Hakakari - who leaves the company on September 30 to join Yleisradio, the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
